Tools and Raw Materials for Your Mosaic Projects

The basic mosaic tools needed for making mosaics, have remained more or less unchanged over the years. These are the most commonly used mosaic tools, and are available from Studio Tylo.

Mosaic Tile Nippers

Probably the most essential item that you will need for making mosaics would be your nippers. They are used for cutting the mosaic tiles into shape and for sizing them into halves, quarters or strips.

Mosaic Tile Cutters

Tile cutters are specifically designed for cutting all tiles. Tile cutters are used to make straight cuts, producing squares, triangles or rectangles.

Mosaic Glass Nippers

To cut glass or ceramic tiles into smaller mosaic blocks or tesserae, it is necessary to first notch the surface of the tile with a scored line. The glass cutter quickly nips glass and ceramic tiles into shapes.

Sponge and Spatula

Use a sponge or spatula to apply the adhesive and grout on your mosaic.
